A senior Dutch Justice Ministry official has blamed Zionists for the creation of the jihadist group ISIS.
Yasmina Haifi, a project leader at the ministry’s National Cyber Security Centre and a member of the Dutch Labour Party, tweeted that the organisation was formed by Israel to give Islam a bad reputation.
“ISIS has nothing to do with Islam. It is part of a plan by Zionists who are deliberately trying to blacken Islam’s name,” Haifi tweeted
She later deleted her original message, explaining, “I realise the political sensitivity in connection with my work. That was not my intention.”
Two right-wing lawmakers, Joram van Klaveren and Louis Bontes of the VNL faction, have asked the ministry how one with such views reached a prominent position in the ministry and if Haifi’s employment constitutes a security risk.
