Palestinians are opposed to any military intervention in the Syrian conflict, representatives of various factions, including Fatah and Hamas, announced on Thursday.
The factions said in separate statements that a military strike in Syria would be harmful to all Arabs and would only benefit Israel.
Abbas Zaki, a top Fatah official, said that his faction was strongly against Western intervention.
He warned that such a move would harm Arab national security.
“Targeting Syria would mean targeting all Arabs,” Zaki cautioned. “This would only benefit Israel.”
He said that although he had no doubt that chemical weapons had been used in Syria, “the West is using this as an excuse to meddle in Syria’s internal affairs.”
Britain has ruled out military action against Syria after a government motion calling for a strong humanitarian response which may have included military strikes was rejected by parliament by 272 votes to 285 late on Thursday night.
Thirty rebels from the governing Conservative party and nine members of the junior coalition partner Liberal Democrats joined with the opposition Labour party to inflict a humiliating defeat on the Prime Minister.
After the historic vote, Mr Cameron said: "It is clear to me the British Parliament does not want to see British military action. I get that and the Government will act accordingly."
Responding to the vote, White House spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said: "The US will continue to consult with the UK Government - one of our closest allies and friends.
"As we've said, President Obama's decision making will be guided by what is in the best interests of the US.
Labour leader Ed Miliband said UK military action was now "off the agenda" and said MPs had reacted against Mr Cameron's "cavalier and reckless" leadership.
He said the PM had tried to "bypass the United Nations" and there would have been nothing worse for the world than Britain pursuing "ill-thought through action" which lacked international support.
After the vote, Cameron promised he would not use the royal prerogative to order the UK to be part of military action before another vote.
